5. Wykorzystanie  postępu  biologicznego  w  uprawie owsa w Polsce – R. Prażak, A. Romanowicz

W Krajowym Rejestrze dominują polskie odmiany owsa.
Pomimo dużej liczby zarejestrowanych odmian owsa w Polsce, stopień wykorzystania kwalifikowanego materiału siewnego w produkcji rolniczej, jak i wykorzystanie potencjału plonotwórczego nowych odmian owsa są ciągle niewystarczające.

słowa kluczowe: postęp biologiczny, owies, odmiana, kwalifikowany materiał siewny

THE USE OF BIOLOGICAL IMPROVEMENT
IN OAT CULTIVATION IN POLAND

Summary

The purpose of this study was to estimate progress in oat improvement in Poland. It is believed that the use of such tools of crop improvement as new varieties or certified seed are the cheapest of yield-promoting factors. In 2012 the surface seeded to oat in Poland was 514000 ha that accounts for 6.7% of the total area cropped to five basic cereals. This country is the world’s third largest oat producer (10% of the word production). The oat yields have increased from 18.9 to 28.6 dt ha-1 over the recent years (2000–2012). Home oat dominates the Polish National list of Agricultural Plant Varieties. Oat is a main component of cereal mixtures. This is particularly important in the current economic situation of Polish agriculture, where the industrial means of agricultural production are relatively expensive. However, it has been known for years that the use of certified seeds of cereals in Poland does not exceed 10% of the total amount. It should be stressed that despite a poor market demand for certified seeds the number of new varieties is growing constantly.
